Year 6
Hazel and Walnut

This term, the Year 6 children have thrown themselves in our continued topic “WW1” producing a wide range of exciting and interesting work based around life in the trenches and conscriptions. Their commitment to this work has been second to none. Using their understanding of the use of animals during WW1, the children have made websites during their computing unit on Webpage Media. As part of history, the children learned about the significant contributions of Edith Cavell, who was a brave and heroic nurse during WW1. They enjoyed looking at both viewpoints, considering whether she was truly a hero, or a criminal which brought about her untimely execution.
The Platform Education team have visited the children to discuss rail safety and keeping themselves safe whilst using the rail network. As part of this, the children had the opportunity to use the railway to visit Bath via the scenic route of Bradford on Avon and Avoncliff. During the time in Bath they visited the Bath War Memorial and continued into the park to admire the architecture of the Royal Crescent.
