The Grove Primary School

Wellbeing Mentors

Our aim for the year, is to raise the profile of the role of the Wellbeing Champions and to embed the new role across the school. Twelve children have been chosen to become our new Grove Wellbeing Mentors!

These children have been recognised for being trustworthy, kind, supportive and empathetic, as well as being wonderful at building positive relationships with their peers.

We were incredibly fortunate to receive 28 applications for the Wellbeing Mentoring Programme. Every single child who applied completely astounded us with their commitment, enthusiasm, and dedication to supporting the wellbeing of children.

Our Wellbeing Mentors will receive 12 hours of supervision, guidance and training in Term 2 from the Pastoral Manager. Once they have completed their training and have their qualification, they will be able to support their peers on the playground with any worries or concerns they may have.

Each mentor will also be paired with another child in school, their Mentee. They will meet for a small amount of time each week to check in, listen and see whether there is anything they can do to help support that child’s wellbeing in school.

We are incredibly proud of each and every child that had applied to become a Wellbeing Mentor.

This has been a successful programme that we have been running at The Grove for a few years now and it is another way of ensuring all of our children have another opportunity to show how they can lead themselves well.
